QUE::Explain power distribution and power optimization technique.
- Power Distribution presents several significant problems, power distribution ha two problem that are sizing wires and power distribution network.
- First, Design a global power distribution network that runs both VDD and VSS entirely in metal.
- Second, Size wire properly so that they can handle the required currents.
- Third, Ensure that the transient behavior of the power distribution network dose not cause problem for the logic which is supplies current.
Metal Migration & Wire Sizing:
- As can be see from fig. the branch carry the current in all branches. If the logic gates use few stranded transistor size, computing power in a line in challenging.
- In order to design large integrated circuits simple rules are chosen for power supply width, hence, metal migration is the problem in power supply distribution.
Power Distribution grids:
- In a large chip power is distributed using several metal layers.
- The upper layers are large in both width and hight.
- The layer closer to the silicon are smaller in both dimensions.
